Ms. S. M. “Sandy”Barrett is President and Chief Executive Officer of MPI Recruiters & Consulting (MPI). She founded the company and has directed its growth to establish MPI as one of the nation's premier woman-owned and operated search companies.
Founded in 1992, MPI is retained by large, medium-sized, small and start-up corporations, as well as regional, national, international and entrepreneurial companies and government organizations to recruit professionals for a wide variety of positions
As a result of Ms. Barrett’s leadership and example, MPI consultants share an unprecedented commitment to excellence at every step of the search process. She has created a culture whose shared allegiance to mission differentiates MPI from other search companies by strategically evolving processes and encouraging productive collaboration.
Prior to founding the company, Ms. Barrett worked in numerous managerial positions at AT&T, Lucent Technologies, Telcordia Technologies and Concert – a joint venture of AT&T and British Telecommunications, at various New Jersey locations. Ms. Barrett also worked in the Oil and Gas industry in Calgary, Alberta, Canada at S&T Consulting and Phoenix Fluids, Inc.
Ms. Barrett’s corporate career has provided her with a mix of global consulting and industry experience, the basis for her in-depth understanding of diverse cultures and talent requirements.
She brings expertise in diversity to her role.
An original member of the Lucent Technologies Diversity Council led by Ted Higginson (deceased), she was one of the executive members of the Lucent Diversity Council and participated in, directed and fostered training for several business units.
Ms. Barrett collaborates closely with clients to strengthen their human resources worldwide with men and women possessing diverse backgrounds and attributes in terms of ethnicity, life experiences, and culture.
Professional affiliations include Garden State Association of Black Journalists- GSABJ, National Association of Personnel Services – NAPS, New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners – NJAWBO and the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources.
She is a member of various charitable organizations, and has contributed generously to causes especially in education and literacy advancement.
Ms. Barrett received an advanced degree in Marketing and Corporate Communications from Seton Hall University, South Orange, New Jersey. She also holds a bachelor's degree in Communications/Journalism from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, New Jersey and has successfully completed numerous management and human resources courses both locally and internationally.
